Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、新興感染症のホットスポットとして注目されている熱帯アジア地域を対象に、以下の4つのアプローチを通じて、プランテーション開発が生態系および人間社会に与える影響と新興感染症発生リスクの関連性を解明することを目的とする。①プランテーション開発に伴う生態系変化の実態解明、②住民の生活行動の時空間分布および野生動物との接触機会の分析、③地域住民の食生活と栄養状態の実態調査、④住民の感染症歴および野生動物の食用実態の把握。さらに、本研究は、COVID-19のようなパンデミックの再発防止策の提言に加え、住民の生活改善と生態系保全を両立可能な持続可能な地域開発モデルの構築に貢献することを目指す。
