Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、中米地域の少数民族の言語であるガリフナ語の復興運動の経緯、実態、課題を、フィールドワークと文献調査によって明らかにするものである。消滅の危機にある言語の保存と復興は人類が直面する喫緊の課題であるとともに、それを使う人たちのアイデンティティの継承である。従来の危機言語研究の多くが国家の枠組みを前提としたものであり、国家の枠組みを超えた取り組みを考察したものはなかった。本研究は、ラテンアメリカ地域研究に根差しつつ教育学と文化人類学を横断する学際的研究であり、今後の世界の危機言語の保存・復興をすすめるうえでの有益な知恵を提供するものである。
