Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、沖縄の女性主体の祭祀に着目して地域間比較を行い、東シナ海域に通底する基層信仰を検討する。現場から民間信仰の担い手としての女性の役割を考えると、先祖供養中心の解釈では理解しがたく、無縁供養との関係の検討が必要である。琉球王国の方針の影響下に女性主体の祭が継承されてきた沖縄の事例は、日本の固有信仰＝古神道ともみなされてきたが、信仰面での女性の力は祖先崇拝とは別次元で考察すべきだと考える。本研究では、沖縄でも古い祭が残る久高島・宮古島等で調査、既に着手している長崎県の五島、韓国の済州島、中国の舟山等でも継続調査を行い、これら地域のデータを比較分析し、国境を越えて広がる信仰実践を考察する。
