Outline of Research at the Start	現代アフリカの社会はいかに国家に正当性を与え、国家の統治を可能にするのか否か。比較政治学の中でも合理的選択制度論は、各政治制度の性能を検討してきたが、制度を作り運用する国家が総体としてなぜ持続しているのかには答えていない。他方、社会学的制度論・政治文化論は、地域固有の社会規範に制度の性能を高める条件を見出すが、政治制度の性能が低いにもかかわらず国家が持続する現象を説明できていない。そこで本研究は、モザンビークを事例とし、地域研究と比較政治学を架橋しつつ、社会学的制度論・政治文化論を援用し、国家の正当性という観点から現代アフリカの国家・社会関係を実証的に検討する。
