Outline of Research at the Start

東アフリカ諸国は近年、急激に変容しており、とくに経済格差の拡大や土地の稀少化・商品化の進行している。それにともない、従来の農村社会の特質を支えてきた条件、すなわち平等主義的な規範や生存維持を重視する生業が崩れつつある。研究代表者は、東アフリカにおけるこれまでの調査から、ウシ牧畜を中心に企業家的な活動をおこなう「富農」の出現とその実態について明らかにしてきた。本研究では、タンザニアを事例として土地の稀少化・商品化を受けて、こうした「富農」の財が家畜から土地へと移行しつつあることに注目して、それにともなう農村社会の本質的な社会構造の変容について明らかにする。
