Outline of Research at the Start	近年、アジア・アフリカのゾウ生息国において、ゾウ獣害問題（農作物・人身被害）が拡大している。これまでの研究は、作物被害面積や人身被害件数のように、量的に把握しやすい「見える被害」に着目し、その対策を提案してきた。しかし、実際の被害の現場では、大切な家族を奪われた精神的な被害や、子供が低栄養になる、教育を受けられないなどの副次的な被害が発生している。本研究では、このような間接的で長期的な被害を「見えない被害」と位置づけた上で、タンザニア・セレンゲティ県において、「見えない被害」を含めた「被害の総体」を明らかにする。さらに、現状の対策・制度を再検討し、包括的な被害軽減に寄与することを目指す。
