Outline of Research at the Start

公害の原点と言われる水俣病事件だが、司法が地域社会に与えた影響とする視点からの研究は少ない。民事、刑事、行政の各分野の司法判断は実際のところ、水俣という地域に極めて大きなインパクトを与えてきており、今も与え続けている。
本研究は各種判決が水俣地域に与えた影響を解析するもので、環境問題が深刻化しているアジア、アフリカの発展途上国にも参考になるものと思われる。また日本の公害が環境の私物化ということで始まったことを考えれば、日本国内においても未来への指針となる。研究では、水俣だけではなく、新潟、富山、四日市のいわゆる四大公害事件の現地も、司法と地域社会という観点から調査する予定である。
