本研究の主な特徴は、複数の領域からの知見・研究手法を併せ、国内外の複数の山岳地域の現場から分析を行うことである。このようにして、山岳地域特有の非生物多様性と生物多様性の相互関係 (Geodiversity-Biodiversity Connections)について明らかにし、さらに、人新世における山岳環境の変化、観光資源やレクリエーション・サービスへの影響について包括的分析を提供する。
