本研究は、日韓間の歴史的対立の克服と和解の促進を目指し、歴史的悲劇の現場を訪れる「ダークツーリズム」が相互理解に果たす役割を実証的に検証するものである。展示の語り方や訪問者の意識変容、市民間の対話の可能性に着目し、質的・量的調査を通じてその教育的・和解的効果を明らかにする。観光と和解をつなぐ新たな理論枠組みの構築を目指す。
