Outline of Research at the Start

日本の委任統治領であった旧南洋群島において日本の帝国臣民男性と関係を持った女性とその子孫の戦後史を掘り起こし歴史の再構築を目指すものである。戦後なぜ「家族離散」が起こったのかを、生存する当事者女性とその子孫たちから聞き取り調査を行い、集約し、一次資料となりうるオーラルヒストリーを蓄積することを目指す。父や祖父についての記憶の継承がどのように引き継がれているのか、その「血統」に対する「混血児」としてのアイデンティティについて確かめる。他方で帰還事業における米国側の資料を精査し、彼女たちに言及する記述の有無を調べる。同時に日本側の軍関係者の資料などから「置き去り」になった要因を見出し明らかにする。
