Outline of Research at the Start	社会的包摂という言葉が私たちの日常に浸透しつつある。その過程で他者との共存を促す社会の創設もまた、「デザイン」の持つ新たな力として認められてきた。そのルーツをヴィクトリア朝のデザイン産業に求めることがこの研究の目的である。ヴィクトリア朝はデザイン産業が法律・チャリティ活動・都市問題と地域の活性化などの大きな社会的ネットワークの中で役割を担った時代であるが、まだその貢献の実像は明確にされていない。本研究では、19世紀の創造的な活動の果たした社会問題解決の役割を浮かび上がらせ、現代にいたるその影響と引き続き後世に伝えるべき意義を、学術と実践の交流を基盤としてグローバルな視点から捉え直す。
