Outline of Research at the Start

研究代表者は、日本における多産多死社会から少産少死社会への移行過程を説明する人口転換論を再構築するために、古文書史料をデータベースに蓄積して時空間分析する「江戸時代における人口分析システム（DANJURO）」（http://www.danjuro.jp）を開発している。本研究では、研究代表者が再発見した長期間にわたる天気、稲の作況、穀物価格、死亡者を記録した古文書史料にもとづいて歴史GISを構築する。歴史GISから求める気候要素、稲の作況、穀物価格が死亡指標に与えた影響を多変量解析によって評価することにより、18・19世紀の東北地方における死亡危機の要因が冷害に伴う飢饉であったか検討する。
