Outline of Research at the Start	1820年から19世紀を通じてアメリカで活動した商事図書館は、多分に商業に従事する事務員が設立した事務員のための図書館と把握されてきた。しかし商事図書館は単に事務員だけでなく、コミュニティ全体を対象にしていた。本研究は商事図書館の歴史を再構成するが、それは商事図書館の歴史を実証的に再現するだけでなく、アメリカ図書館史の再構成を試みるものである。
