Outline of Research at the Start	本研究では、分岐タイプ理論が一つの「変項の理論」であるということ、すなわち、それが、変項の意味とは何かという問いに対して、変項の意味をそれ単体ではなくそれを一部分として含む対象（「命題関数」）という観点から説明することで一つの解答を与えるものであるということを示す。このことが達成されるならば、今日多くの初期分析哲学史研究者が支持する『プリンキピア』解釈、すなわち、分岐タイプ理論はなんらかの対象を描写するものではなく、諸記号の悪循環なき定義を提示するに過ぎないという「唯名論的解釈」に対するオルタナティブが得られると同時に、変項の意味に対する新たな理論的説明が得られる。
