Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、大江健三郎を中心に、村上春樹、吉本ばなな、川上弘美らを研究対象とし、1980年代以降の現代日本文学における「魂」の問題を検討するものである。これらの作家が「魂」の領域をどのように描き出してきたかを、同時代的なコンテクストを踏まえて分析する。「精神世界」言説の興隆、オウム真理教事件、東日本大震災、COVID-19パンデミックなど、「魂」への関心を高める契機となった事象に対し、文学的想像力によって敏感に応答した作家たちの試みを横断的に検討することによって、現代日本文学における「魂」をめぐる思想史を浮かび上がらせることを目指す。
