Outline of Research at the Start

16世紀フランスの作家ミシェル・ド・モンテーニュは、自己を語ることを著書の主要な目的に掲げた。しかしこの時代、公の場で自分について話すことは一般に礼節に反する行為と考えられていた。モンテーニュが社会的規範に反してまで自著で自己を語ろうとしたのは、私人という作家自身の身分規定が関係していると考えられる。私人という観点から私的な名目で出版された『エセー』がいかなる社会的射程を持っていたのかを考察する。
