Outline of Research at the Start

This project aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of gender bias in EFL textbooks used in Japanese schools as it examines six EFL textbook series used in Japanese junior high schools. The project uses a modified version of Norman Fairclough's three-dimensional model as a framework. The framework was developed specifically for this study. This framework is the primary method used in the project and is proposed because of the lack of consensus among gender and discourse researchers on a unified framework for analyzing gender bias in textbooks.
