Outline of Research at the Start

1925年の日ソ基本条約締結後のサハリン島を、それをめぐる世界の動きから、そこに暮らす住民の生活までを一つの連続体として、要素の実態と相互関係を、具体的な事件の推移から実証的に明らかにしていくことを目的とする。個々の局面については従来の研究においても若干の蓄積があるものの、すべての位相を総合的にとらえることは、史料的にも方法的にも容易ではなく、先行研究は20世紀前半の日露関係史あるいはサハリン島史を表層的にしか解明できていない。該当時期サハリン島をめぐるこれらの諸相とその相互関係を明らかにすることによって、20世紀前半における世界史の諸問題の縮図としてサハリン島を位置付けることを目指す。
