Outline of Research at the Start

環大西洋革命の時代、スペインとイスパノアメリカの貿易は壊滅的状況に陥った。これにより、スペイン帝国の太平洋航路も潰えたとみられた。それにもかかわらず、王立フィリピン会社によるスペインとマニラとの貿易は19世紀中葉まで継続した。なぜ、どのようにして、王立フィリピン会社はアジアとの貿易を継続することができたのか。本研究は、大西洋・インド洋・アジア太平洋を跨ぐアクターとしての王立フィリピン会社と、他のヨーロッパ商人・アジア現地の商人達との協働関係に着目することで、いかにして会社が革命と戦争による危機に対応しながら貿易を再編し、利益をもたらすアジアとの貿易関係を継続したのかを解明する。
