Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、イスラーム史においてもっとも重要なアクターの一つである、ウラマー（知識人）の修学記録から11－13世紀の西方イスラーム世界における修学の傾向や特徴を明らかにするものである。本史料から、個別ウラマーの修学内容に加え、師弟ネットワークや経歴を明らかにする質的研究を行い、ウラマーの活動を総合的に分析する。加えて、西方イスラーム世界では、本研究で扱う修学記録（バルナーマジュ、フィフリス）といった史料が伝統的に著され、まとまった数が伝世している。当該史料の量的分析を行うことで、史料の性格を明らかにし、地域における修学記録編纂の興隆と意義を検討する。
