Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、在米日本人非正規移民の歴史を一国史としてのアメリカ史や日米関係史という従来の枠組みを超えて、ラテンアメリカ諸国も研究対象地域に含めた環太平洋史（transpacific history）として描くと同時に、密入国などの非正規移住を例外的な行為としてではなく、日本人を含む近代世界の移住者が共有する通常の一般的な行為として歴史化する。日本とアメリカにくわえ、ラテンアメリカ諸国でも史料を調査し、日本語、英語、スペイン語の3言語の史料を重ね合わせた多言語研究を行う。
