Outline of Research at the Start

Many small-scale farmers in developing countries practice agriculture using traditional technologies even with the existence of more modern methods that are more productive. This low investment in modern technologies contributes to unproductive outcomes and poverty. In this project, I aim to understand what barriers limit the adoption of modern technologies among small-scale farmers in rural and indigenous areas of Panama. I will examine the role of information in limiting the adoption of these technologies and I will also quantify the impact of adoption on different socioeconomic outcomes.
