Outline of Research at the Start	先進国から途上国へ向かう国際移動に関しては、近年学術研究が進むも、移住者の文化的背景や心理的動機、移住後の生活に注目する研究が多い。その一方で、移動と滞在を可能にするグローバルな経済格差や労働力の分業、人種的ヒエラルキーについては関心が寄せられなかった。当該研究はフィリピン英語留学を事例に、主な受け入れ機関である英語学校が留学生たちを惹きつけるために、フィリピン人英語講師の労働力を再編し、地域の歴史を再構成していることを、ポストコロニアルの視点から解明する。これを通して、「安くて近い」フィリピン英語留学に潜む不平等のメカニズムを明らかにする。
