Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は，砕屑物の風化過程での元素組成変動に着目することで，堆積岩層一般に広く適用可能な古気候パラメータを復元する指標を構築することを目的としている．これは第四紀（過去300万年）のみならず，よりダイナミックな地球環境の変動と生物進化が生じた顕生代全体（過去5億年）をカバーする幅広い時代の堆積物に適用できるものであり，地域間・時代間での古気候条件の対比を実現する貴重な手段となる．本研究は2年間で，大規模データベースの統計解析による土壌化学組成に基づく古気候復元手法の確立と，実際の地質試料への適用することで古気候復元への有効性を検証を行う．
