Outline of Research at the Start

我々の視覚意識体験は、視覚対象が今目の前にある刺激由来の“知覚”である場合と、今目の前にはないが過去に見た刺激の“記憶”である場合とがある。知覚と記憶は日常において混同されることは少ない。では実際に両者の区別をどのようにして可能にしているのだろうか。知覚と記憶の根本的な違いが現象学的な“リアリティ(ありありと目の前に対象が存在する感覚)”であるとすると、両者を区別するために特化したリアリティモニタリングのメカニズムが想定される。本研究では、リアリティモニタリングに関わる神経基盤を解明し、同じ視覚対象に関する知覚と記憶が、なぜ異なる意識体験を生むのかという根本的な問題に取り組む。
