Outline of Research at the Start	多発性硬化症（Multiple Sclerosis: MS）は自己免疫性神経疾患として広く認識されているが、その病態機序は未だ十分に解明されていない。疫学研究からEpstein Barr Virus (EBV)とMSとの強い関連が示唆されているが、MSのどの病期にどのように関与しているのかは不明である。EBV感染がMS発症のみならず、疾患活動性や神経障害進行と関連すれば、EBVは有力な治療標的となり得る。本研究では、血清および髄液中のEBVウイルス量、MS患者の末梢血および髄液中に存在するEBV感染に関連したB細胞、CD8 T細胞サブセット、臨床情報を統合的に解析し、EBV感染と免疫応答とMS病期の関係を明らかにし、治療応用に結びつけることを目的とする。
