Outline of Research at the Start	原発性肝癌には肝細胞癌と肝内胆管癌がある。遺伝子や発生過程の違いから異なる性質を示すものの、どちらも予後の悪い癌である。これまでに行ってきた研究から、遺伝子情報を持っている染色体が倍化する多倍体化という現象が、肝細胞癌では頻繁に起こることがわかってきた。そしてこの多倍体化を起こした癌は予後の悪い性質を持つことがわかってきた。この研究では、同じく肝臓に発生する肝内胆管癌でも同様の染色体の変化が起こっている可能性に着目し、多倍体化現象の意義を明らかにする。
