Outline of Research at the Start

BNCT (ホウ素中性子捕捉療法)は腫瘍細胞を選択的に破壊する治療法であり、治療困難ながん治療への応用が期待されている。現在、BNCTは切除不能な局所進行又は局所再発の頭頸部癌に対して保険適応がなされている。本研究では、頸部食道癌に対する実臨床におけるBNCT治療の有効性を検証する。さらにBNCT治療前後に経時的に血中循環腫瘍DNA（ctDNA：circulating tumor DNA）を解析し、従来の画像診断や血清腫瘍マーカーよりも早期かつ正確に再発リスクや増悪の評価が可能かを検討し治療効果のダイナミクスな変化や再発が肉眼的に顕在化する前の微小転移状況での治療介入で根治を目指す早期診断法との世界初の新規治療戦略の確立を目指す。
