Outline of Research at the Start

住血吸虫症は、WHOが提唱する顧みられない熱帯病（NTDs）であり、重症例や死亡例も多い世界三大寄生虫疾患である。世界中で蔓延する住血吸虫症をコントロールするためにはワクチンが有効と考えられるが、未だ実用化には至っていない。そこで、高度弱毒化天然痘ワクチン株LC16m8（m8）のbacterial artificial chromosome（m8-BAC）システムを用いて複数抗原による感染伝播・発病阻止の有効性検証システムを構築する。そして新たな感染制御法の確立と予防・治療法の開発を目指す。
