Outline of Research at the Start	糖尿病患者の約8割の患者が下部尿路症状を併発している。慢性的な高血糖状態により膀胱内の神経細胞が傷害を受けて膀胱機能障害が生じると考えられている。われわれは、間葉系幹細胞を利用した積層型間葉系細胞シート（以下、積層細胞シート）を開発した。申請者は、糖尿病患者の傷害を受けた膀胱内の神経細胞を再生する膀胱機能障害の細胞治療を着想した。本研究は、積層細胞シートを糖尿病モデル動物の膀胱にパッチ移植を行い、膀胱機能が回復するのか明らかにするとともに、膀胱内の神経細胞が再生するのかを明らかにする。本研究成果は、将来の糖尿病の包括的な根治治療確立の一翼を担う研究として期待できる。
