Outline of Research at the Start

近年、パキコロイドは黄斑部だけの局所的な病態ではなく、眼球全体の血流動態が病態に関与していることが明らかとなり、特に渦静脈うっ滞がその本質であると理解されている。本研究では、臨床的、遺伝学的観点から多角的に渦静脈うっ滞のメカニズムを探索する。パキコロイド病態の本質である渦静脈うっ滞を解消できるような治療体系を提供することは、重篤な視力障害になりえる黄斑新生血管や黄斑萎縮を未然に防ぐことにつながり、個別化医療という観点からもその意義は極めて高いと考える。
