Outline of Research at the Start

歯周病原細菌の中でも，Porphyromonas gingivalis （Pg）は、口腔から全身へ移行し、Alzheimer’s disease（AD）の進行に関与することが報告されているが，そのメカニズムは不明な点が多い。申請者は、Pg感染が死細胞貪食の過程であるエフェロサイトーシス（EC）の破綻を誘導し、ADの病態へ関与する可能性を考えた。本研究では，Pg感染がどのように脳へ波及し，ADへ影響を与えるのか，ECの動態に着目し細菌学的・免疫学的に検討する。
