Outline of Research at the Start

生きがいとは，人生における目的や意味，日々の充実感を感じることである．特に高齢者にとって生きがいを持つことは精神的・社会的健康の維持に寄与し，活動的な生活を続ける原動力となり，幸福に人生を送る鍵となる．高齢者の生きがいには，食事を通じた人との交流や生活の喜びが上位にあり，咀嚼のみならず言葉を発することや笑顔を作るために必要な口腔機能が重要であることは言うまでもない．
本研究では，心理学・社会学の研究者と連携し，70代～90代の高齢者約3000名を対象に，後期高齢者～超高齢者～百寿者の様々なステージににおける精神的・社会的な健康に対する口腔機能の重要性について，15年の縦断研究により検討する．
