Outline of Research at the Start

慢性腎臓病(CKD; chronic kidney disease)は進行すると透析や腎移植を要する末期腎不全に至るため，治療法開発が求められる。アミノ酸は近年の分析技術向上により，光学異性体であるL体とD体に分離して測定が可能となった。これまでの研究で，マウスにD-アミノ酸のうちD-アラニンを摂取させると腎障害が抑えられることを見出した。また健康成人で，D-アラニン含有量が規定された製剤の摂取による血中D-アラニン濃度の増加と安全性を確認した。本研究ではCKD患者でD-アラニン製剤の介入試験を実施し，D-アラニンの腎機能への影響を解明することを目的とする。将来的にアミノ酸を標的としたCKDの治療法開発への発展が期待される。
