Outline of Research at the Start

間質性肺炎は世界的に患者数および死亡者数が増加しており、日本でも主要な死因の一つである。中でも特発性間質性肺炎は難治性で予後不良な疾患であり、発症や進行には遺伝的および環境的要因が複雑に関与するが、そのメカニズムは十分に明らかになっていない。近年、暑熱や大気汚染物質への曝露が肺線維症の増悪に関与する可能性が指摘されており、異常気象や大気汚染の影響が注目されている。本研究では、①極端な気温（暑熱・寒冷）、②大気汚染物質への短期的な曝露、③両者の相互作用が特発性間質性肺炎の症状増悪に及ぼす影響を明らかにする。外因性リスク因子を特定し回避策を講じることで、今後の疾病負荷軽減に貢献することを目指す。
