Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、タイにおいて「国王を尊崇すべき」という社会規範の形成と浸透の過程を明らかにするものである。特に、王室と民衆の間に親密感と緊張感の両方を醸成する上で、警察機構が重要な役割を果たしたことを実証する。タイにおける君主制研究では、警察は軍に劣るとして副次的存在として扱われてきた。一方本研究は、これまで等閑視されてきた警察機構の役割に着目することで、王室に対する市井の人々の態度がどのように教化され、タイ的な社会規範を身につけてきたのかを描き出す、挑戦的な研究である。
