Outline of Research at the Start

ヒトの腸管内に常在する有機酸であるプロピオン酸は経口摂取されると肝臓で代謝されるが、その過程でビタミンB12が補酵素として作用することが知られており、13C-プロピオン酸呼気試験(PABT)はこの性質を利用したビタミンB12欠乏症の診断検査である。従来本邦で頻用されている血清ビタミンB12値よりも信頼性の高い指標である血清血清メチルマロン酸および結成ホモシステイン値を診断指標として、臨床応用のためにPABTの必要時間を短縮とした1 hour PABTのビタミンB12欠乏症の診断のための非侵襲的検査としての有用性の評価を目的に本研究を行う。
