Outline of Research at the Start

江戸時代の大名家は、室町将軍家などが所持した美術品を「名物」として蒐集するとともに、江戸藩邸や国元の城下町で新たな美術品制作を行わせ、膨大なコレクションを形成した。本研究は、国内・国外に所在する大名家旧蔵作品を伝来情報も含めて調査・撮影し、並行して美術館・博物館の所蔵品デジタル画像情報を収集、大名家ごとの特徴と、主要作品の制作・修理・移動の相関的な把握を試みる。従来の日本美術史が「首都」の制作状況に偏していた状況を改め、参勤交代の中で文化が全国的に波及した状況を明確にする。日本美術史を列島全体の文化史へと地域的に拡大するとともに、古代・中世から近世・近代への流れを通時的に接続することを目指す。
