Outline of Research at the Start

A catchment’s soil moisture distribution before an extreme rainfall event may change in the future, for example because of increased evapo-transpiration with higher temperatures or due to a change in preceding precipitation events due to climate change. A change in soil moisture in the future could be a supplementary factor impacting future flood risk, though the link is not yet well understood.
