本研究は、日本（埼玉、千葉県等）に居住するクルド人およびアフガニスタン人移民の社会統合と共生のダイナミクス、具体的には、①移民コミュニティ内部の背景と構造と相互支援のあり方、②移民と地域社会との軋轢や共存模索の実例、③地方自治体の施策の有無と効果、について聞き取り調査や参与観察を通じた実証的な解明を目的とする。研究成果は、国内外の関連学会で報告をし、単行本や雑誌論文の形で出版することを目指す。
