| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、中近世日朝関係の変遷を明らかにしようとするものである。そのための切り口として、中世後期から近世を通じて、対馬の朝鮮外交を下支えしていた禅僧＝外交僧とその拠点に注目する。日韓両国に所在する史料の調査・収集・分析を踏まえ、①中近世の連続性という視点から対馬藩の外交僧体制の成立と変容について明らかにするとともに、②江戸幕府の宗教統制によって近世的仏教秩序が形成されるなかで、対馬においては中世以来の外交僧伝統がどのように近世的仏教秩序に組み込まれたのかを明らかにする。
