Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We clarified the play of humanity as Homo ludens and the essential importance of the juvenile society. By analyzing the data obtained by long-term fieldwork targeting wild primates using the method of social network analysis (SNA), the "grooming = play hypothesis" "hunting = game hypothesis" concerning the evolution of Homo ludens was verified and many results were published. I translated "Introduction to social network analysis of animals" and contributed to disseminating SNA as a methodology to domestic researchers on animal behavior. Also, in the process of promoting research on the cognitive aspects of play, we have achieved interdisciplinary collaboration, and contributed to expanding the comparative study of cultural psychology that has been biased only to the east and west countries to the African region.
