Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study paid its attention to the Cold War and colonialism and analyzed the education in East Asia after the IIWW, using the method of compartive hsitory. One focus of this study is an analysis of The Children of the World, China-Korea edition (1955), that gathered, translated, edited and published the compositions witten by the children in Taiwan, China, Korean in the 1950s. As a result of the analysis, both the editorial process of the book and their contents were under the severe influence of the Cold War, and the movements for de-colonization were rarly expressed in their compositions. Another foucus of the analysis are the documents concerning the Amami branch of the Japan Teachers’ Union. Since Amami Islands were placed under the direct rule of US government after the war, the tendency to question Colonialism since prewar days was weak, as was in Okinawa after the war.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
従来の教育史研究では、戦後日本の歴史は、戦後東アジアの歴史から切り離されてきた。たとえ東アジアが視野に入れられる場合でも、日本―朝鮮―中国という軸を中心とした考察が一般的であり、日本―奄美―沖縄―台湾という軸での考察はほとんど行われれてこなかった。結果として、戦後日本における歴史意識と歴史教育は、戦前戦後の脱植民地化という課題をきわめて不十分な形でしか問題化できなかった。本研究は、冷戦体制に深く規定された歴史意識と歴史教育を一国主義的な枠組みから解き放ち、東アジアの隣接諸地域との相互理解を進めるという社会的意義がある。
