Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research documented women’s post-disaster activities including soup kitchen, relief distribution and questionnaire on women’s experiences through interviewing women’s groups and individual members of such groups which have engaged in post-disaster reconstruction support activities in Iwate and Miyagi Prefectures. Women in disaster-affected areas have empowered themselves and broaden a possibility of realization of gender equal society in post disaster through their activities. This includes women who had not participated in social activities or who had not perceived gender issues as their own before the Great East Japan Disaster.
