Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study is an investigation of publication activities of Nishimura Ichiroemon who is a publisher for generations: Especially Ichiroemon Ⅰ is famous as a publisher and writer competing against Saikaku. After Ichiroemon Ⅰ's death, Ichiroemon Ⅱ publishes Ukiyozoshi "Hatune Monogatari" : It is an unknown work written by Aoki Rosui, that I discovered in this research. It shows a trend of his activity against Hachimonjiya who is a popular publisher in Kyoto. Ichiroemon Ⅱ opens a branch in Edo; He becomes a key person for making Nishimura's way into Edo market.
