Outline of Final Research Achievements |
From our analyses of satellite images of forts, 8th to 18th-century Rajasthan forts are classified into three major types: (1) large-scale hilltop fort, (2) minor hilltop fort + fortified palace-city, and (3) flat fortified city. Chronologically, type (1) was comparatively popular before the 13th century, particularly as royal capital cities, but from the 16th century onward, especially in the 17th century, both types (2) and (3) had become standard as major Rajput kingdoms became stable as regional royalty under the Mughal rule.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
