Outline of Final Research Achievements

Historically, paddy field environments have not been used only for rice cultivation. In this study, we focused on cultivation of Azemame bean (leaf bean) in paddy paddy field, and clarified the technology and its significance and history in livelihood. Such paddy ridge cultivation can be positioned as a typical upland crop in paddy field.
Paddy ridge farming is positioned as a technique of multifaceted use of paddy field environments like paddy fishery and paddy hunting. And it can be said that various kinds of subsistence activities using such paddy environment functioned as an important livelihood maintenance system for rice crops. We will propose it as "Paddy field culture" rather than "Rice cultivation culture".
