Utilizing various records of professional law, this research accomplished to clarify several sides of fomation and development of the judicial systems of the Tokugawa Shogunate and some Hans. (1) Concerning the Tokugawa law: clarified criminal and civil procedures and their practice (including judicial statistics) of Hyojosho(Conference Chamber), Jisha-bugyosho(Temples and Shrines Commissioner), Kyoto Machi-bugyosho(Kyoto Town Commissioner), etc. (2) Concerning Han laws: discovered new manuscripts of "Tozoku-oshioki Osadame" (Written decisions of punishment for thieves, Nagoya-han) and "Hyojosho Kakushiki-cho"(Formal book of Conference Chamber, Sendai-han), and considered the circulation of the legal sources of criminal law in these Hans and their significance in the legislative history.
