Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research investigates the effect of a formation of bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between asymmetric countries on the feasibility of multilateral free trade (MFT). Main results are as follows: (1) Suppose that market scale of countries are similar. Expansion of FTA paves the way for MFT, although Overlapping FTAs does not. (2) As compared with Cournot competition, Stackelberg competition lowers the feasibility of a bilateral FTA as well as the attainability of MFT.
