Outline of Final Research Achievements

Although contribution of cyclic electron flow around PS I (CEF) to C4 photosynthesis has long been suggested, there are few physiological evidences. I showed that without proper functioning of NDH-mediated CEF, a C4 dicot, Flevaria bidentis cannot operate efficient CO2 assimilation by C4 photosynthesis under light limited condition. These results demonstrate that NDH-mediated CEF plays an indispensable role in C4 photosynthesis in F. bidentis.
